New D300 user: LR4 to denoise???

Title not the best. I am using a D300. I have Lightroom 4. I have studied quite a bit.  But, I am afraid that I am leaving a lot on the table when correcting for Noise/Luminance in LR.

Please direct me to best knowledge/ settings/ to minimize my noise without overprocessing and wipping out my detail.
