I LIke and Dislike the new Image Viewer at DPR

I can't recall where I read it, but I am sure someone with more expertise in Web images - would be harder to find someone with less expertise than me - can explain about there being two ways of down loading an image; the first way is to download the full image line-by-line, that achingly slow way you sometimes get where you switch to another tab while it downloads and the second way where they download a lower res image initially and then (and this is where my technical knowledge runs out ) fill in the detail. From your description it sounds like they are doing the latter. It may be a necessary technique for managing the server load on what must be an exceedingly busy site.
