You can tape the pins of the TC, or the contacts of the lens. I prefer the contacts of the lens (easier to tape up).

I think you may find that the latest bodies still 'see' the Extender/converter if you tape the lens pins.

Taping the Extender/converter pins makes it invisible to the body but even taping some of the pins to disable full reporting will make some bodies very confused, unhappy and not very cooperative.

Older bodies and older Extenders/converters are much easier to use the tape trick on.
