Any camera - lens combination can have minor misfocus. That is what focus adjustement function is for. That said, Nikon 17-55 F2.8 is as good a lens AF wise as anything Nikon has to offer in the market. It is fast, accurate, sure fire low light or not. I have been use mine on D300, D7K for over five years. It is no question to me the best DX lens Nikon ever made. If you like the zoom range, it should be your top choice.
