the canon 300mm 2.8 L II IS is probably one of the sharpest lenses made.

it also makes use of much more titanium and magnesium alloy and is also the lightest professional quality 300mm 2.8.

it's also got all of canon's latest tech on coatings (SWC and Fluorine coatings) plus two fluorite elements.

in all any of the super tele II's .. it's one of those things if you have to ask why it costs so much then the lens probably isn't meant for you to purchase.
