Hi guys,

Although I have been taking photos for a while now, it's really only been the last little bit I have begun to explore my cameras creative exposure modes. I thought AV would be a great one to start on and to be honest, I am soooooo confused. I am really struggling with the shutter speeds. Some shots are OK but some leave the shutter at 1" or even longer. This may sound really sully, but is there way of altering the shutter speed on AV. I have the ISO on auto for the moment, AWB and so on simply changing the aperture to how I want my photos. Wide open for shallow DOF and small for Deep DOF. Unfortunately I am finding the shutter release difficult to grasp. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and how if so can I change the shutter speed.

Apologies for such a silly question....it's taken me 2 whole weeks to build the guts up to ask it lol. I suppose this is how you learn. It's funny, my wife is having our first baby next year and I was going to get a 50mm 1.2 for some really awesome blurred background shots. No point if I can't use it. Although I have alot of work to do, I am prepared to learn and find I grasp things quickly so hopefully this is no different.

Adrian
