Most owners of the new 6D have been reporting a beautiful film-like noise at high ISO. This image is a crop of a picture I took this morning to show how uniform is the noise and how beautiful it is at ISO 10000. Shot at f/2.8, hand-held.

I've been hearing that excuse for every digital camera ever made, "film like noise" or "filmic look" it never is. If you want film like grain, colour and dr, shoot film. Otherwise stop kidding yourself.

Kevin.

I do shoot film, both in medium and large format. When I say film-like noise is just because the noise doesn't look digital. It has a "clumpiness" (spelling?) that makes it more like analog noise (I.e. grain). Just open this image and blow it big on your screen to see what I mean.

Just do search here "film like noise" and see how often it gets trotted out, like it's something special this or that camera has.
