Can I use lx5 batteies and converter on LX7

I'm looking at these crazy deals on the LX7 and they are very tempting especially with my Christmas stocking still empty. Can I use the batteries from the LX5 on the LX7? I have a converter for putting filters on my LZ5, can this be used on the LX7 or do I need to buy all these gadgets again? My LX5 is relatively new, and is the upgrade worth it, or should I enjoy it and wait for the new larger sensor models that are sure to come in the next year?
