6D + 17TSE vs D800 + 14-24 + PS6 pc

I had always heard good things about the 14-24 and was surprised to hear such bad reports on this thread.

Flexibility is good for an amateur. Joger's concept of stitching for a wider view is vey interesting, but generally 17 is going to be a good width for me.  My main reason for wanting the TSE is to reduce the keystone effect of buildings shot from the ground looking at an upward angle and to increase the DOF of pictures of land.

The 14-24 will not tilt, but will have greater DOF because of its width  How will that compare with the DOF of the 17 tilted?

The 14 corrected in PS6 will yield a corrected image, probably wide enough everywhere, but how will the IQ compare to the 17 optically corrected, particularly considering the 36 vs. the 20 megapixels?

Granted.  The question in my mind was whether the 36 megapixels combined with good enough glass would eliminate the need for the shift, and possibly some of the tilt.  So far, the answer is looking like no.
