But I started getting second thoughts. The last few years, I have hardly used my Nikon DSLR gear at all. I love my D300 when I actually use it, but it tends to stay at home. I pick my mirrorless cameras instead. Much less weight, much less bulk. I can take them anywhere, whether I plan to take pictures or not.....

I'd say forget the gear you're using. If you can print those photographs as big as you like them, the force of the content easily overpowers any technical issues. The two similar shots from the Lapland as well as the 'reeds' and 'blurry forest' are spectacular. Wonderful not only in showing what charm and imagination the nature has, but also in encouraging the viewer to ask "what else could be there". I take my hat off to you and hope that when I get my hands onto my D600/D800, I will strive to achieve some of that magic.

Again, if you're comfortable with what you're using right now and the potential technical shortcomings don't bother you at all, the purchase of an expensive new DSLR could even hurt your shooting practice. Then again, it could give you a new, more deliberate technique, which could even improve your thought processes when photographing and a whole new medium to play with - large, high quality prints. Think about it long and hard - do you want anything to change - and every time your 'gut feeling' tries to bump in, listen to it and cherish the wisdom.

Thanks Janne for your very kind words. I especially appreciate that you liked my blurry pics, because I want to go in that direction in the future, at least partly.

I agree totally with your second paragraph and, yes, I trust my gut more than I trust my brain.

Regards
Lasse
