A very negative review of Sony 16-50mm

That means that first generation NEX cameras are not really compatible with this lens and that either Sony are going to commit to updating firmwares for their older bodies every time a new lens is released for a number of years after production of that body ceases, or owners of older bodies will effectively be forced to upgrade their body if they want to use a newer lens... In fact I don't understand why Sony hasn't allowed just the lens data tables to be updated in the camera, except for their maybe wanting to lock-out other manufacturers from providing similar in-camera distortion correction capabilities.
