California Road trip .. Day 6

Kathleen and I stopped in Los Angeles for a Thanksgiving visit with my family. A great time was had by all. After 3 days we left and travelled north to Santa Barbara and visited the mission there. The first photo is by Kathleen and taken with the SD15 and the 17-70 mm OS lens.

The remaining photos are by me with the SD1M and the 24-70 mm lens.

There is a great cactus garden on the mission grounds, here is on example.

We then drove up to Pismo Beach and visited the very large sand dunes called Dunes Oceano made famous by Ed Weston and Ansel Adams.

These are massive sand dunes and they run right into the ocean. The road into this area is quite dramatic, you drive through a wooded area that opens up to this unbelievable stretch of sand dunes. After driving about a mile over a very sand covered road, you reach the top of the dune and have a great ocean view. Unexpected and wonderful.
Cheers,
