Sam,

I don't think the D3x is necessarily "outdated" in it's own light but in light of the D800/E and the D600 I guess it could be considered "outdated" as both of those cameras seem to offer similar or better resolution for less $. I too have heard/read similar rumors about a potential "D4X" but for now the D800/E seem to be outshining the D3X.

I'm curious though as to why your insurance didn't cover the loss of your D3x. - That is truly a bummer. Was it insured professionally, did you have a separate rider on your homeowner's policy?
