Hi, Iggier - For what it's worth, I'd try and track down a good used D700. I found one this past summer with only 1,200 shutter actuations. I think there are plenty of good, low-time D700 bodies out there to be had for a good price. Unless you plan on routinely making 4x6 foot prints, you probably don't need the stupendous resolution of a D800. The low light capability of the D700 is superb, the build quality is excellent, and it will give you a much faster FPS shooting rate than a D800, especially with the accessory grip. In other words, I think the D700 offers you a bit more versatility. Just my two cents - good luck!
