U1 & U2 on D7000 : Reliable?

I just set up the user (custom?) sets on my mate's D7000 to give me Aperture mode, centre-focus, eval metering and fine Jpegs on both, with U2 using RAW+Jpeg and that high-DR thingumajig, I forget what it was called.

Now my question : can I rely on these U1 & U2 presets to stay as they are no matter how much the camera is switched off/on, changed batteries etc...?

I do hope so.

(I found the focus-point selection button totally bizzarre down there at the front!, had to search in t'internet to find how to get it off 39-point auto which was messing up a LOT of photos with a stupic choice of focus point.)
