I retired, and started looking for a smaller camera that would give me great image quality.  At the time I was looking at the Leica X1, when I learned about m 4/3 format.  I had never heard of it, and started reading about this new format.  Well, I purchased the GF1, and thought if it wasn't as good as my Nikon D200, I could sell it for about what it cost me and buy another later model Nikon.  I got rid of my D200 instead.  I now own the Panasonic G3, which was listed as the best m 4/3 camera to date when it came out.  It gives me what I need and so do the lens that I now own.  Those of you who now own a top of the line m 4/3 camera will be in this same position in less than a year.  Your camera will be old  hat, and those new bodies will be calling to you, buy me, buy me.  For over 40 years, I wouldn't make a purchase unless it would make me money.  No, I never did become a pro photographer, but I was able to pay for all that equipment I purchased, by what I was able to sell using my photographic equipment.  The format m 4/3 looks like it has staying power, and it is being used by my publishers, so image quality is more than good enough.  The next time I do upgrade, it will be not with the latest model, but with the one that is being discontinued, because the price will be so cheap.  My G3 was going for less than $300 with a lens last week and that my friends was a steal.
