Really.

It was a biggie at the time. Though I cannot really remember 100% if it would trash 8 GB cards or if they had to be larger than that. Anyhow, 4 GB definitely worked, and 16 definitely didn't.

Fortunately Canon corrected this in its last FW 1.1.1 upgrade to the 5D so that those cameras can still be used with modern cards. (And just to remind everyone: we are now talking about the original 5D, not 5D Mark II and not 5D Mark III.)
