I have now returned two D600s because of the oil/dust contamination problem. Anyone who continues to defend Nikon on this issue is either a shill or a fool. If you think paying $2K for a camera that has to be wet cleaned every 150-200 shots* is a rational thing to do, be my guest. Suggest you buy more than two, though; it might take a much larger sample size to find one of the alleged "good ones" that doesn't fill itself up with crap inside of a day.
What is on the OP's sensor is one of two large oil spots that all of these cameras develop (except the supposed "good ones", of course). It's not dust and it can't be blown off. It will soon be joined by another spot lower and further to the left. Then the dust will come in, starting in the upper left but eventually covering most of the sensor (lower right seems to stay fairly clean). Much of this will be visible in shots take at f5.6 or higher; by f11 all of it will show up. This will happen even if you never take the lens off the camera; all of the debris is inside the camera when it leaves Nikon.
D600 kit prices have fallen by 1/3 in less than two months. Small wonder, that.
*Unless you like to spend your spare time retouching everything you shoot over f5.6.
