Does anyone use the Nikkor 28-70mm f2.8 on the D800?

I have read several blogs claiming the 28-70 as Nikkor's sharpest mid-tele lens.

Knowing the reports of the D800 testing lenses to their sharpness limits what is the consensus of users tha use it or have tried it? How does it compare to the 24-70mm? Thanks.
