VC in Tamron 70-300: a Real World Example
5 months ago

Having seen others get some nice images with slow shutter speeds using the Tamron 70-300 vc, I thought I would give it a try. I got to this local pond late and the light quickly dipped below my usual threshold. Instead of packing it up, I made sure the vc was on, raised my iso to 800, and lowered my shutter speed beyond my usual far limit of 1/30--to 1/20. Here is the result:
Fading Light: VC On, 1/20, 270 mm
I had no trouble attaining focus. There was noise from both the high iso (for a D90), some underexposure, and some positive exposure added in post. While noise reduction has been applied, I lowered the usm from ACR's default level in Elements. So, minimal sharpening. The warmth is from shady white balance.
