To my eye the gnome is rendered better with the 60, showing considerably more detail and texture - though part of this looks to be a difference in exposure. However, the 60 background seems a bit "nervous" or "jangly" to me - call it bad bokeh or just too much depth of field but to my eye it pulls attention away from the subject. The 45 has a smoother look in out-of-focus areas.

If I had to choose between the lenses based on this one comparison it would be a very tough choice. But thanks for posting. Interesting.
