My experience is with an M 50 f/1.7, which I'm very pleased with it. It's remarkably sharp when stopped down, and I haven't noticed any particular issue with CA though to be honest I've not gone out of my way to find it (much of my stuff is BW!). It is however less contrasty, and cooler than modern glass.

I also have a M 135 which I don't use as I find the fixed focal length gets more restricting as you go up the focal length scale.

I would regard these older lenses as supplementing rather than substituting more modern glass.
