Flashes for SX50?

Hello,

I'm about as much as a newbie to the world of photography, as one can be, so please be patient if I ask dumb questions. I chose the SX50 because I wanted (needed), an auto setting, & so I can also have a bit more control, as I learn. I'm one of those that over researches, until I get to the point where I feel like closing my eyes & throwing a dart.

Unfortunately, my funds are limited, but wondering if there's a flash unit that works with the SX50, other than Canon's own EX line, which are expensive. (to me anyway)... Obviously, I'm not looking for anything fancy, just the basic. Like in the $50 or lower range. I’ve seen some cheap units coming from China, on EBay, but lacking any technical knowledge yet, the only thing I know for sure, is to ask others with experience. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Was also wondering if there’s any site online that gives people like me, a training (learning) course on the SX50. Like Canon does with it’s DSLR models. Not that I blame them, as most of their camera sales come from DSLR’s. I am disabled & not very mobile, so I can’t attend a photo class. Again, appreciate any help.
