That's what i figured (a lot more than a much faster machine would cost you by using "off the self" if you're a good shopper).

If I wanted to use a custom build, I'd take advantage of areas like overclocking, multiple video cards in SLI or CrossFire configs, etc.; and it doesn't sound like you're going to do those types of things.

Hence, why I'm wondering why you just don't purchase one of the off the shelf configs instead.

If you wanted to take advantage of OCing, etc.; then that could justify using a custom build.

But, from what I can see of your posts so far, you'd be better off just buying a system from Dell, HP, or similar.

That way (purchasing an "off the shelf" box from a major manufacturer, you'd get more "bang for the buck" (performance/dollar) compared to building a system yourself.
