Canon 20D making ticking noise

I've done some more checking and found it makes the ticking noise when I push any control button or wheel and it stops 3 or 4 seconds after the button has been pushed. It starts again when I push another button.  The shutter mechanism doesn't seem to be moving.  It looks like its the pop up flash release mechanism that's slowly moving and ticking.

Maybe an electrical problem to me.
