In reply to Henry Richardson, Dec 15, 2012

I am using Win8 on a machine that is five years old with only 12gb of ram, no SSD.  It boots a bit faster, shuts down faster and smoother and I have had not hardware problems, four printers connected, scanner, three hard disk cradles and an old firewire drobo.  What is does do is handle memory much better than Win 7.  I can leave a browser open, Outlook open,  and work with Lightroom, PS6, Bridge, (all open) and print from Qimage without locking up the machine.
