I purchased a full copy of Silkypix Developer Studio Pro 5. With it, I get as much detail out of images from my G5 as with the latest version of LR, which I also have. I come close with Silkypix in highlight recovery, but LR still outperforms it in that area. The masking features and curve manipulation functions (selective exposure control) of LR beat Silkypix by a long shot.

Oh.... but the Silkypix colors. I like the richness of colors better from Silkypix than any other raw developer I've tried. I also like the contrast controls, and the sharpening/unsharpening masks that are applied in Silkypix as the final step in development work very well. Finally, I like the fact that you can work on any image on your disk immediately in Silkypix without importing it into a library.

I probably use Silkypix for 65% of my raw developing, and LR for the rest. They are both great programs.

Thanks for that bowportes - at the very least I am going to download the trial version...
