Sony HX200V Versus Canon SX50? Which do you think is the better camera purchase?

Hi Everybody,
I am looking to buy a point and shoot super zoom to use for basic around the house use - but also for outdoor wildlife photos and videos. These two cameras are within $10 of each other on walmart.com.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sony-18.2-MP-DSCHX200V-B/20682172
My question is this....which camera do you think is the better buy?
A couple of things that make me wonder are this:
I don't know a lot about cameras - so I am hoping you can help me with this decision. I feel like everyone I talk to in the retail stores swears by Canon's quality, and picture quality, etc. I feel like because of the rotating screen and extra zoom power - the Canon gives you more for your money.
The flip side is that I like the Carl Zeiss name on the Sony. I have always like Sony products in the past. I wonder if the Sony offers more features within the camera (with GPS, and picture effects) - while still offering a plenty strong 30X optical zoom.
Would really appreicate your time and advice! Thanks / Happy Holidays!
