I agree that the concept of large sensors must be perpetuated. On the other hand, I personally don't care about the bump, and the 808 is not really that huge in reality. If I were Nokia, I would hype the hell out of the large sensor concept by integrating it into a Lumia WP8 phone. If it was worth releasing the 808 at all, just think how many people would accept the hump in a more "modern" (per the market and news perception, not my view) phone. If they don't, someone else will.

To summarize: STICK WITH THE LARGE SENSOR, add the OIS and low-light performance. It's the differentiating factor. And keep that awesome stereo Rich Recording!!!

Thanks for the thoughts. Personally I don't care about the additional protrusion too but I would think a uniform thickness throughout certainly makes the phone more aesthetically pleasing. The Pureview 808 still doesn't look too bad in real life (with the hump) as the overall form is small. If the phone is slightly larger in dimensions and wider, I can just imagine the hump to be more prominent. I am visualizing the Lumia 920 to have the form of the 808, and I think it won't look too good. Also, when the phone is placed on a flat surface, the back of the phone won't lie flat due to the hump. A minor issue that may not be worth worrying about.

Perhaps I am over-analyzing, but I do hope the next generation of Pureview phones from Nokia will not be inferior than the 808 (if they follow the crowd in adopting form over function). In order to capture the market, they will have to come up with device that appeals to the MAJORITY of people, not a minority of folks that take photography seriously. I do hope Nokia will take the right path in the evolution of their next generation of Pureview phones. Otherwise, the 808 may just become a niche.

all this is possible but will not happen for another at least 4-5 years(until WP9 or whatever comes out), if Nokia survives by then
