How to transfer ipad/iphone/ipod files to computer?

I have a question, usually we can sync our files from pc or itunes to ipad/ iphone/ipod, so we don't worry about files lost in idevices. but if I take photoes with ipad, how can I transfer them to computer.
if I delete these photoes accidentally? How can I convert ipad files to computer ?
