I believe I was purposing a solution that doesn't need a $7000 long lens or a $4500 long lens, or even a $2000 long lens. I believe I'm proposing a solution that optimizes what people might already have in lenses, or can more likely afford. It works for the people owning a DA * 300mm, a DA 55-300mm, or even for those with a DA 50-200mm.

P.S. I never asked for a long prime from Pentax, so I find most of your post to be pretty pointless. It is also a failure no matter how you want to place the blame, although where you want to place blame seems a little Twilight Zone to me.
You seem to want everyone to have your IQ vs Price equation
But I would put to you, if IQ is no consideration then the p10 is the answer £250 and 1000mm you should be happy
The Nikon Coolpix P510 has the biggest zoom range of any fixed-lens camera, ever. Its massive 42x, f/3.0-5.9 lens stretches from 24mm to an astounding 1000mm
As you mention twilight zone you should be aware that in the real world people are different and are willing to pay for something better than dross.
Hence why all manufacturers make high quality lens at many 1000's of dollars
That doesn't make them or the products wrong or poor value.
To belittle the products and infer those who may have higher values than yourself are inferior belittles you not them
