Fill Flash / SB900 / D700, D800. Help please.

Hi Folks,

Wonder if some of you more experineced guys can help with some basic Flash set ups.

I will be in the Dominican Republic in April 2013 at our Sons Wedding and request some help with Flash settings / set ups?

What settings work best with SB900 and D700 / D800.  I just want to lift the Shadows on faces that you get in these sunny climates.  Unfortunately we don't get to practice too often here in the UK!

Will mainly be using 24-70.   Auto ISO off.  RAW.

Mode A/S/M?

Shutter speed / Flash Sync (Auto FP?)

ISO?

TTL / BL?

Exposure comp on Flash?  Camera?  Both?

Previous attempts have been mixed with some OK and some over exposed.

I realise a good book will also help so please advise any you think may help along with the settings you use in bright sunlight?

I realise there are many settings and conditions dictate but I am looking at the (your) basic set up for a single SB900 on Camera?  Once the basics are in I can adjust from there but it's knowing where best to start?
