D5200 Vs D5100 which one to buy as 1st DSLR?

I'd get the D5200.  The better focusing alone would tip me over.  The increase in resolution and color depth is substantial. Do not listen to anyone who tells you the kit lens isn't up to 24MP.  It is at a lot of settings.  Nevertheless, I would at some point add a prime or two, such as the 35 1.8 or 40 Micro, or perhaps the Nikon 24-85VR, which is a star on DX.  That combo would be the state of the DX art for resolution.  And give you bragging rights for sharpness on the forum :^)
