I do appreciate (the OP) posting his thoughts - don't take this the wrong way, but part of me does think - this really is no surprise at all. Skin tones are determined much more heavily by a camera than a lens, in my experience, so I would not have expected a massive effect of the lens on that.

It is the sharpest of all m 4/3 lenses and sharper than most lenses on other systems - again, this is widely reported in reviews, and in some of the reviews it is also mentioned that the sort of sharpness may not always be useful in portraits - so not really a surprise?

150mm focal length equivalent is too long for many indoor household portraits, though could be used in a studio at a push. I imagine it is OK for outdoor shots but is probably best when you have a model prepared to patiently sit/wait for the photographer - for candid shots of kids it may not be ideal.

I use the 45 for shots of my kids and it is good, but I don't have the 25 to compare with. Focus isn't always fast (I use a GH3 now) but it's adequate - not as good as the PDAF on my DSLRs though.

If it were me I might stick with the 25 - in what ways are you finding it not sufficient for your portrait needs?
