Note: Why low-light performance is important to me
In reply to Suave, Dec 13, 2012

Low-light performance is not just about taking photos in low light, it's about low noise at high ISO settings. This is extremely important to folks like me who hand-held telephoto lens to capture images of birds and other subjects. To eliminate the shake of hand-holding a telephoto lens, you need a very fast shutter. This is accomplished by setting the ISO as high as you can. 'As high as you can' means the highest setting that produces tolerable noise in the photo. While noise removal software will take out most of the noise, using it on high noise photos will sometimes smooth characteristic texture of the subject.
