When people look at Sigma samples alone, they sometimes say it has worse bokeh. When they do side by side testing of the Canon and Sigma taking photos of the same subject, they say the Sigma has better bokeh ;-). Yes, this appears to be very accurate. There is not a single comparison shot on the second link in this topic that would make me want to choose the Canon 35 L over the Sigma.

And the bokeh from the Sigma is more pleasant than the Canon to my eyes, particularly the shape as you start to stop down to f/2 and f/2.8. Sigma has done good.
