The trackpad of my Macbook Air is shot-peened glass and is really smooth and wonderful to operate by finger. Also, tablet screens have oleofobic coatings to decrease friction between the screen and the finger for improved finger operability. Try swiping on an ordinary windowpane. Not really smooth and a lot of friction. So I don't see any reason against tables with matte screens.
