Nikons fill-n flash problem Any advice please?

Nikons Achiles heel, no I dont mean BL, for shooting in bright sunlight conditions, that works fine, Im talking about fill in flash, where you expose for the ambient light and then set your flash gun output one or two stops down, even on a dull day it adds sparkle to a shot.
Nikons Matrix metering works like magic, of that there is no doubt, but only with the flash switched off. My Nikon d300 and d200 drop their exposure setting by one stop, if the flash gun is attached and turned on. Its a pain, especially when you use fill in flash on every shot outside, if the day is not sunny and you have the output of your flash turned down to -2, just to give the mild shadow areas a slight tickle, all your shots are underexposed by one full stop, which is alot. This Bo Bo has stoped me upgrading to the 3D 3Ds D700 but Im going to look at a D4 tomorrow, to see if it does the same thing and if it does all my Nikon gear will be on E-Bay next week. From what I understand, Canons don't have this problem.
I would suggest to Nikon, that if BL flash option is not set to on, on the flash gun, but instead the flash is set to straight TTL, then the matrix metering should not be adjusted by the camera. Or that there should be a setting in the menu to chose straight fill in flash, where the matrix metering will not be affected. I have told Nikon about this 5 years ago, but nothings changed. Any comments anyone? or advice please?
By the way, I shoot average 50 weddings a year and have been formally educated in the subject of photography
