Thoughts after missing out on the g3 deals

Options seem to be a used kit at $350, body only for $299 then would need to add lens (which or what for all around use to get me started that wont break the bank), or just look at something different while trying to stay under $500.

Total newb who wants to quit thinking about photgraphy and start actually doing it so any and all thoughts are appretiated.
