I own both the Sigma and the Nikon. Haven't performed any scientific test (received the Sigma this morning), but my first impressions are:

* the Sigma is very, but /very/ sharp at 1.4. Both on the D4, and on the D800E (tried it briefly on a loaned body), and it is astounding wide open, at least in the center. It smokes my copy of the 35 1.4G in this regard. Also, it is sharp in the borders at 1.4. Enough to be useable. Again, amazing.

* bokeh is very nice.

* the autofocus is way better than that of my Nikon. It locks with ease even in very bad light, and reliably.

I am extremely happy of the purchase, so much that I plan to also try the 85 1.4HSM despite owning already the 85 1.4G (which I /don't/ like, for the amount of CA it puts out).
These new Sigmas really appear to be game changers, at least in my opinion.
