Adobe or Nikon Raw

Hello All:

I started the thread below in the Retouching forum but got no answers so I either picked the wrong forum or my questions were phrased wrong. (ie:stupid question)   I have copied it below to see if I am in the correct forum and some one can give me some advice on whether to purchase LR4 to work with CS6 instead of View NX and Capture NX2 as my raw editors...  Thanks for your input...

"I have been using View NX and Capture NX2 for the most part to edit my raw Nikon files and doing the final PP in CS6 before printing or being sent to the printer. Lately when I edit something in View NX and then to Capture NX2 the file will be locked in View NX only editable in NX2. This is really inconvenient and sometimes it's locked up in both so I have to go to CS6. I have pretty much decided to go to LR4-CS6 for my editing but am not totally thrilled with this move as the Nikon products read the raw file and interpret its colors a little bit better IMHO.

My questions to you all for input are:

1. Has anyone experienced this before and can you unlock the ViewNX file?

2. I am pretty much an early intermediate user in CS6 and LR4 will be a brand new step, how hard will it be to make a change in PP that won't hurt the quality of my PP or really slow me down? (Learning curve?)

3. Am I imagining the percieved color difference between Adobe and Nikon, the steps are certainly easy to make PP changes fast as it stand now in Nikon.. Should I just bite the bullet and immerse myself in the Adobe programs or stick with Nikon?

Thanks for your input.. (I know that a lot of you on this forum use the Adobe method, will I miss the nuances of the Nikon editing or will my PP improve the quality of my shots with Adobe....?)

Phil
