Are you talking about the Multi-Exposure feature in the REC menu? You got it to combine more than 4 images? :o
Interesting, but how is this going to turn AP on it's head? Surely we've all been stacking the images on our computers for years already? I don't see how doing this in-camera will make the end result better.
Yes I got it to combine an unlimited number of "RAW" images in camera. It actually increases the exposure synthetically of the RAW file.
The point is not that it is better than current stacking procedures. The point is that it can be done almost as well in camera. In near real time. I am basically trying to eliminate the need for eye pieces.
I want to see everything in color with something close to 20 stops of dynamic range in near real time. There hasn't been anything capable of that yet. The GH3 will turn heads if it can accomplish that.
Hmm. In order to reach 20 stops of DR by simply merging (averaging) multiple RAWs, you need 65,536 shots, if you start with a DR of 12, which is roughly what the GH3 is capable of in any single capture. To increase DR by one EV, you need four shots, and to increase DR by eight EV, you need 4^8 = 65,536. So you'll be busy for a while in real time no matter how you do it. And perhaps wear out the shutter somewhat prematurely.
