Good all around budget lens
Dec 12, 2012

I have a canon XSi that I bought when it first came out and I think the AF servos in the kit lens are shot. It won't autofocus anymore (it will once in a while, but the majority of the time it won't). I tried cleaning contacts, etc and nothing seemed to help (and yes the switch is on AF when I am trying it and no I have never tried to manually focus with the switch in AF).

Anyway, I am debating whether I should just buy another kit lens or go with something a little better, but not too much money. I also have the 55-250IS. A buddy of mine who is a wedding photographer, recommended the 28-135 as a decent option to look at.

Any thoughts on that lens? I am not sure if I would miss the 18-28mm range because I never really pay attention to what range we use most of the time. We primarily use it to take pictures of the kids, vacations, etc.

Any help is appreciated!
