What is the advantage of an optical viewfinder over an electronic viewfinder?

I see it as the difference between watching a live play vs. watching a video of the play on a monitor.  Assuming a very high quality video the quality of the video experience is going to be determined by the quality of the monitor (EVF).  The monitor allows us to adjust the output (brightness, color, & contrast), but will be less "real" than the live performance.  However, since most of us do considerable post processing of images, they are often not that "real", so which is better will always be a matter of personal preference.
