I suggest you keep an eye on final quality. It depends on your needs but recoding from compressed video will likely decrease image quality and is time consuming if you have lots of video. This may still be OK for your needs of course.

The rewrapping options do not re-encode video, although I recall that it may transcode audio format.

Personally for best quality and editing freedom I go with the choice to transcode into a less compressed format such as AIC or 422 for working files - these large files can be deleted long term as if I want to adjust edits I can recreate them.

Now if only I could record a less compressed image stream externally to start with, from the HDMI output or similar....
