Only the new line with sony sensors. The old has worse.

Do you feel that this is what makes the difference, in ease of shots? I have a Canon Digital Rebel, and on some of the most beautiful sunny days, it is harder to get a good shot. I have been thinking it is time to switch to another brand, maybe Olympus, for example, to get a better dynamic range.

But when shooting RAW, it seems like I can get back a lot of the blown highlights.

Interesting you bring this up.  Again, not to diss Canon, but with my older Sony (older camera/older sensor), I rarely had picture quality issues no matter the type of day or scene... cloudy, sunny, shady, bright, winter, summer, or whatever.  I rarely had bad or under/over exposed photos, and rarely did I ever have to bring a photo from my F828 into post processing to make adjustments to it.
