A lens conundrum, and some advice, please

I'm in a similar boat except I have an A77 so I have to deal with the crop-factor...factor 

So, I'm considering the 16-50 and 16-80cz along with the 24-70cz

I recently started a thread, link below.  Read through it, maybe you can glean some nugget of info that will help with your decision.

I'm thinking of renting the 24-70cz over the holiday.  I think after that I should be able to determine if the cheaper route is a better choice or the performance of the 24-70 is worth its price.
