Why did Microsoft do it?

42%? I find that hard to believe with the steep prices Apple charges for everything. Perhaps, folks with budget concerns aren't or can't buy new PC's or are just satisfied with smartphones. Overall, good or better products, but their pricing is hard to justify, at least to me. Also, they want to lock you into the Apple World.. for example, difficult to do much with content with an Ipad or Ipod without using Itunes as the connection. I am sure there are some work arounds, but for "ease of use" devices that shouldn't be necessary. Just my .02
