I shoot baseball action with a D5000 using a 55-200 lens. Lighting is not good enough at our local ballpark for the camera to stop action at night. Samples here:

I take most shots from near homeplate. Would like to get better shots of the outfielders, and better shots at twilight. Would the D5200 with a 55-300 be an upgrade for me?

wayne,

I am unable to view your examples however based on what you are describing " baseball @ twilight" & "...take most shots from near homeplate.." & ..."Would like to get better shots of the outfielders..." - the reality is that the 55-300 would not improve what I suspect the issue(s) you might be having.

It sounds like you need a faster lens with an fstop of somewhere around 2.8 like these:

The issues the 55-300 would have over these two examples are 1:reach (300 vs 200mm) and 2:price
