SX50/Tripod

I did a search for "tripod" and (naturally, this being a camera forum) came up with 41,666 hits.  That's a bit overwhelming <g>

So, I'm in need of a new tripod.  Most of the ones I saw on Amazon were well below $30, which surprised me.  Saw some $100+ ones but can't spend that much anyway.  Is there a certain brand to look for and one to stay away from?  I already have the little "Pod" beanbag thing but I need a good 5' tall tripod.  Any suggestions?  If a good one can be had in the $30 range, that would be great.  Thanks!
